The Newmarket Community Development Corporation (NCDC) is a private, non-profit entity operated by an all-volunteer board of directors. Our mission is to promote economic and community development in an effort to expand the Newmarket tax base consistent with the Town’s master plan and for the benefit of the taxpayers, residents and visitors of the Town of Newmarket. THE MILLSThe NCDC owns the “Essex Mills”—the granite, “trap rock” and concrete buildings at the north end of town, along Main Street and the riverfront—having acquired them from the Essex Corporation in 1997. The NCDC had previously owned the companion buildings across the river, on Bay Road, but sold them to a developer in 2001. This complex is now known as Bryant Rock. The NCDC has created a
Request for Proposal (RFP)
to attract potential developers for the Main Street and Riverfront
mill complex. The NCDC continues to accept and evaluate qualified
developer responses to the RFP
